A family-run audio visual company based in East Sussex
OBAV is a family-run audio visual company designing and installing sound, visual, lighting and specialist systems across London and the South East.
We work in churches and houses of worship, public buildings, restaurants and hospitality venues, bars and nightclubs, schools and education, as well as high-end homes.
Our work includes AV installations, hearing loops, lighting, PA and voice alarm systems, acoustic treatment and home cinema.
OBAV is SafeContractor approved and ISO [[NUMBER: exact ISO standard to confirm]] accredited, our engineers are employed rather than subcontracted, and most of our work comes through architects, main contractors and clients who have used us before.
Luke and Lucy Kavanagh
OBAV is run by Luke and Lucy Kavanagh.
Luke
Luke grew up around music and professional sound. From an early age he was helping his father install sound systems in nightclubs and set up equipment at music festivals, before going on to train as an electrician and start Lake Electrical.
Audio remained a big part of his work, including home cinema and smart home installations, and today he brings that electrical and audio visual experience together across the OBAV group.
Luke remains closely involved in projects, particularly at the survey, design and planning stages.
Lucy
Lucy works alongside Luke in running OBAV and looks after much of the day-to-day organisation behind the projects.
She runs the office, keeps enquiries and project information moving and is often one of the first people you will speak to when you contact us.
Together, Luke and Lucy also run the wider group of businesses that includes our sister company, Lake Electrical.
The team around us
OBAV has an experienced technical team carrying out the design, installation and commissioning work on site.
Chris Packham is our Senior Technical Manager, specialising in audio, AV and lighting systems, supported by engineers who have worked with the business for years.
We employ our engineers rather than building each job around different subcontractors. That means the people who survey and install your system understand the project and remain involved through commissioning and handover.
What we do
We work on everything from individual meeting rooms and hearing loops through to complete sound, lighting and AV installations.
A lot of our work is in buildings where the system needs more thought than simply choosing the equipment. That includes listed churches, public buildings, difficult acoustic environments, busy hospitality venues and larger projects delivered through architects and main contractors.

Lake Electrical, our sister company
OBAV and Lake Electrical are sister companies under the same ownership.
Where a project includes both AV and electrical work, the two teams can plan the installation together. This is particularly useful on larger refurbishments and fit-outs where power, lighting, containment, data and AV all need to be considered at the same time.

We work directly with clients as well as architects, consultants and main contractors, and are used to the documentation and site requirements that come with commercial, public-sector, education and heritage projects.
